International Business Management (B.A.)

Aims

The changes in the marketplace which have been going on for the past few years have led to fundamental makeovers in many companies' competitive position. Developments in worldwide (tele)communications have played a vital role in contributing to these changes. In order to handle matters, make decisions and manage successfully in globally-expanding organizations, one must not only possess professional expertise but must also be able to communicate effectively. Both large as well as medium-sized industrial firms and service providers are increasingly in need of qualified, trained graduates who are specialized in handling business matters on an international scale and who understand how culture influences people and organizations.

The International Business Management program goes beyond business administration and also incorporates the peculiarities of doing business globally. The program was conceived, in fact, in a cross-border context by the University of Cooperative Education Loerrach (Germany), the Université de Haute Alsace - UHA (France) and the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz Basel - FHNW (Switzerland). All three institutions thus utilize the unique opportunity offered by their close proximity to each other in the "TriRhena" region. The program endows participants with the qualifications necessary to manage successfully in united Europe and in the global marketplace. Students learn to think across borders by learning across borders.

Graduates of the International Business Management program have a decisive advantage: the ability to work effectively in international corporations and organizations, as well as multinational project teams thanks to their professional expertise in business and economics and their outstanding language capabilities in German, French and English.
